South Winneshiek FFA members gain first-hand experience as they harvest their 7 acre test plot. This is the second year the South Winneshiek FFA has had a test plot in recent history.
FFA members learned much about harvesting -- from machinery to record keeping and everything in between. Members were able to ride in the combine and learn about what goes on inside. They also took samples from the corn and recorded data. The harvested corn was brought to the Spillville Mill and FFA members will decide if they will store it or sell it in Ag Business classes.
The South Winneshiek FFA Chapter is grateful to everyone who took part and helped with the harvest learning process and also the farmers, seed companies, and families who support the South Winneshiek FFA and their test plot. The South Winn FFA is looking for a new location next year due to students graduating. Special thanks to Gary Kuboushek for the time and resources he invested and to Ryan Kuboushek for bringing a weigh wagon and spending the day teaching students about harvesting test plots.
