The niece of Ridgeway residents Donna and Kelvin Rue is one of three finalists in the nation to hand the official game ball to the referee before the Super Bowl.
Olivia Eckerman of Waverly entered the contest by submitting a video of herself in mid-October. It was that 18 second video of her "celebration dance" that qualified her among the 30 semifinalists. Now the NFL has notified Olivia that she is one of three finalists, saying, "Out of the hundreds of kids who entered the contest this year, we felt that she not only had standout dance moves, but that she is an impressive leader in her community and a strong ambassador for the NFL PLAY 60 initiative. From her involvement in Fuel Up to Play 60 and how she brings the program to life within her school, to her extracurricular activities, she indeed embodies what it means to be a super kid!"
The finalist will be chosen in part through on-line voting, which is now underway and will run until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 5th at www.nflrush.com/superkid.
