A new brewery in Calmar is now open for business.

PIVO Brewery and Blepta Studios are located at 101 Huber Drive, on the north side of Calmar, and are owned and operated by Craig and Sara Neuzil.

The businesses are located in a 10,000 square foot facility that includes an art studio, retail space, taproom, brewery and warehouse on three acres of land that includes a young fruit orchard that will supply some of the fruit used in the production of their hard cider.

The taproom includes a kitchen that will begin serving a limited menu of soups and stews in the near future. A bike trail spur is being constructed off of the Prairie Farmer trail that will pass along the south side of brewery and art studio.

Both Craig and Sara Neuzil grew up on farms near Spillville and attended South Winneshiek High School, but moved away after finishing college at Iowa State. They moved back to Calmar in 2015 to work on their plan to open a brewery and art studio.
