The figures for certified enrollment are in for Decorah Schools and the good news is that the figure is up to 1,675.18 from 1,634.91 last year. That is up 40.27 students. It is particularly good news since the prior year enrollment was down a similar amount.
The enrollment for the past 9 years has remained basically stable, but that is in contrast to many rural based schools with declining enrollment. The current figure reflects the addition of 13 students from North Winneshiek grades 7 and 8 that are now part of the Decorah Schools. It also includes a large number of open enrollments, 268, most of which are elementary students from the North Winneshiek district.
