U.S. News & World Report has ranked Aase Haugen the 5th best performing nursing home in Iowa.
The website used a number of factors to come up with its ratings, including health quality measures, state survey results, quality rehabilitation and therapy programs, and staff time spent in the care of residents. U.S. News especially praised Aase Haugen for the quality of its medical care. It noted that almost all long-term residents received flu shots and none of the residents were put into restraints. It said the number of patients who were given anti-anxiety medications was half the rate of the state and national average.
Aase Haugen Senior Services Executive Director Jeffrey Schmidt stated, "Over the last few years we have dedicated much effort to the development of comprehensive dementia and rehabilitative services, health record technology and staff development. It is very rewarding to have those endeavors recognized, all of which are due to the commitment by everyone within the organization".
