Whether the next mayor of Decorah is Gary Rustad or Lorraine Borowski, it seems they will not have an office at Decorah City Hall.
Office remodeling is underway at City Hall and one result of the process is that the room formerly taken up by Mayor Don Arendt has been given to one of the City Clerk's Office employees. City Manager Chad Bird says the extra space was needed and both Rustad and Borowski said they did not plan to hold regular office hours, as Arendt has done.
City staffers are working on creating space in one of the conference rooms at City Hall, so whichever candidate wins Tuesday's election will have a work space and a filing cabinet.
