Sixteen members of the Decorah FFA departed to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the 90th National FFA Convention & Expo. Members enjoyed three days filled with leadership sessions and FFA business--all while learning lifelong skills and meeting members like them from all over the nation. Outside of the convention, members had the opportunity to tour local attractions including Kokomo Opalescent Glass, Indianapolis Speedway, Conner Prairie Interactive History Park, and Fair Oaks Farms.
During the National FFA Convention, the Decorah FFA was recognized as a two-star chapter for the National Chapter Award program. The National Chapter Award program is a contest designed to evaluate chapters based on their ability to plan activities and carry them out with a successful Program of Activities. Chapters are recognized for outstanding achievement in the areas of student development, chapter development, and community development based on a three star rating, with three being the top level. The Decorah FFA advanced to the National FFA Chapter Award contest after placing ninth in the state.
Members who attended the convention include Paige Aten, Lexi Averhoff, Jared Carolan, Keagen Einck, Carter Falck, Tyler Irwin, David Johanningmeier, Garrett Lovstuen, Parker Monroe, Hailey Nierling, Ashley Nierling, Brian Phillips, Libby Rolfs, Daniel Schwartzhoff, Shayla Smith, and Julianna Wise.
