City of Decorah officials could soon be getting one step closer to fixing the Dug Road Trail.
Bids are due to City Hall by Friday on the reconstruction of the northwest end of the trail, nearest to the Decorah Campground. Plans call for removing 15 to 20 feet deep worth of rock in the portion of the trail which collapsed after last year's flooding. Crews would then replace the removed rock with "pillows" of material that would act as the new base.
Bids will be opened Friday, then reviewed by the Decorah City Council. Initial work could be done before winter comes, with the repaving scheduled for next spring.
