Gubernatorial candidate John Neiderbach stresses issues when he is campaigning.  He says he's a "common sense radical," one who promotes solutions that might be seen as radical, but are really common sense.

For instance, Neiderbach says the pharmaceutical industry should pay money towards the cost of treatment for those hooked on opioids.  "We need a different approach," he told members of the Winneshiek County Democratic Party Thursday night, saying the costs of opioid addiction treatment ought to be paid by the industry that pushed the dangerous drugs.

Neiderbach is a lawyer and former member and President of the Des Moines School Board who has has worked for the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau and for the Iowa Department of Human Services.

Speaking Thursday night to local Democrats, he called for a moratorium on the construction or new confinement operations and urged, "Let's have the folks polluting pay the costs (of clean-up)."
