Helping Services Director is recognized as a "Rising Star"

A Decorah man is has been recognized by the Winona Daily News as part of the newspaper's "Rising Stars: 24 community leaders in the 7 Rivers Region" series.

Helping Services for Youth & Families Executive Director Carson Eggland was chosen for the job he does at Helping Services, as well as for his work with several community projects.

The newspaper noted that Eggland helps put on the holiday lights show hosted at the Decorah campground.  Holiday Lights, Magical Nights is a major fundraiser for Helping Services--and a tourist attract that brings in visitors from surrounding counties and states.

The newspaper also recognized Eggland's involvement with the local Decorah Rotary club, both as a board member and co-coordinator of the annual Loop de Loop road race. 

Eggland was also praised for his role in starting "100+ Men Who Care: Driftless Chapter."  The group has met four times in the past year and donated more than $20,000 to area nonprofit organizations.
