PROFILE: Charles Lore seeks re-election in Decorah's 5th Ward

(Our series of articles about Decorah City Council candidates continue, this week focusing on the two candidates for 5th Ward city council member.  Below is our profile of incumbent Charles Lore, with a profile of challenger Johanna Bergan being posted for Thursday):

Charles Lore has a long history of involvement in the Decorah community. He was a founding member of the Decorah Athletic Booster Club, past president of the Decorah Lions Club and Nordic Fest board, and a current member of the Decorah Lions, Elks, VFW, and American Legion. Lore has occupied Decorah's 5th Ward City Council seat since 2013 and is seeking reelection in November.

Lore's past accomplishments on the city council include sewer and water line improvements, a new ladder truck for the Decorah Fire Department, the property tax abatement, the new hangar for the Gundersen helicopter, and the Downing Addition.

Lore's vision for Decorah is to expand the city limits in order to draw in new business bringing more people into Decorah to live here and stay here. "I want to make Decorah the best place possible for the sake of my children, grandchildren, and others to come," he says.
