Letter to the Editor: Support Gary Rustad for Mayor

(The following Letter to the Editor has been submitted by former 4th Ward City Councilperson Bill Wagner):

I'm writing to express my support for Gary Rustad in the upcoming mayoral election.  Gary's twenty years on city council make him the most qualified candidate for the position.

Gary has worked on and led numerous committees over the years and has been the Mayor Pro-Tem for  the past twelve years.  He will "hit the ground running," making the transition seamless.  I know from personal experience that there is a steep learning curve to becoming an effective city leader, be it mayor or council member.  

While serving with Gary on the City Council, I was always impressed with his level of knowledge, preparation and insight regarding the issues we discussed.  Gary has spent literally thousands of hours in service to the City of Decorah.  Gary has a true love for Decorah, his hometown.

Please join me in supporting Gary's candidacy for Mayor.  Let's not squander the opportunity.  Let's elect a leader who will hit the ground running and will continue to work tirelessly to make Decorah an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
