Student volunteers from the Luther College Student Congregation will take part in the annual fall "Luther Serves" day Saturday.
Volunteers spend the day helping Decorah residents with yard work, planting, light housework, window removal and cleaning and other fall chores. The day's volunteer work schedule gives priority to Decorah residents who are elderly or disabled, but any resident who is in need of the help may participate in the project.
Decorah residents may sign up by contacting Luther College Ministries at (563) 387-1040 or at ministry@luther.edu to request a morning or afternoon shift of student workers. While College Ministries will make every effort to accommodate all requests, they will be handled on a first come, first served basis.
There is no charge for the Luther Serves services, but donations will be accepted. Any donations collected during the way will go to the Lutheran Disaster response to aid relief work for victims of the recent hurricanes, flooding and wildfires.
