Members of a 4-H Club in the Twin Cities knew that after the latest presidential election, there was a lot of interest in Muslims as a group.
So the members of the Franklin Library Urban 4-H Club put together a program "to tell our own story," as MInnesota Extension Educator Kathryn Sharpe puts it. On Thursday night they brought that interactive program to Decorah in a 90-minute program designed to build bridges of understanding.
It was the first time the 4-Hers presented their program outside of Minnesota. Previously they had done a cultural exchange with 4-Hers in rural Minnesota and presented a video they produced to the Minnesota State Fair.
Sharpe says the program "has been an evolving project," but the 4-H members welcomed the chance to visit Decorah. The group spoke at a meeting at the United Church of Christ in Decorah and another at the NEIA Peace and Justice Center in Decorah.
