decorahnews.com's Sara Peterson is writing a series of articles about the candidates running for City of Decorah positions. This week she profiles the two candidates for the At Large seat on the Decorah City Council, Ross Hadley and Brett Robinson. Her profile of Hadley was posted on Monday. Robinson's profile is posted below):
Brett Robinson has lived in the area for the past 11 years and is happy to call Decorah home. He grew up in Oelwein and says he remembers always being impressed with the outstanding sportsmanship Decorah athletes displayed and the high caliber programs Decorah had to offer. When the opportunity arose for him to move his family to the Decorah area, he seized it and has no regrets.
Robinson works as the Meat Manager at the Decorah Fareway. He was motivated to run for the at large seat on the Decorah City Council because he wants to have a voice in growing Decorah while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Robinson's priorities include: expanding Decorah's housing and business development, filling the empty storefronts, being a voice for the people of Decorah, and using taxpayer money wisely.
Robinson says, "I am excited to work with the new leadership to find ways to help Decorah grow differently than just by raising taxes -- our taxes are already high enough. We need to think of other ways to make it more inviting for businesses and homeowners to move here. I want to represent the people by making sure their voices are heard and their money is being used responsibly."
