Viking State Bank is collecting donations for area food banks this week

Viking State Bank & Trust is supporting area food pantries this week, which is "National Food Bank Week."

The bank is inviting community members to bring in donations of non-perishable food, paper products and personal care items through this Friday.  Donations can be taken to either Viking State Bank & Trust's main bank at 321 West Water Street or its branch bank at 1801 Old Stage Road from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through Friday.

Suggested donations include easy to serve canned meal items including soups, stews, chili, beans and pasta, canned tuna or chicken, canned fruits and vegetables; boxed items such as boxed complete meals, macaroni and cheese, cereals and individual oatmeal packets, and pancake mix, peanut butter; paper products including paper towels, toilet paper and tissues; personal care items such as bath and hand soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

All donated items collected will be shared with the Winneshiek County Food Pantry, managed by Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation, Decorah Lutheran Food Pantry at Decorah Lutheran Church and Decorah Community Food Pantry at Decorah First Lutheran Church.
