By now Decorah residents have gotten used to having visitors from all over the world during beer release events at Toppling Goliath. But what they might not have thought about is the economic impact of these events.
Toppling Goliath has put together some figures, which estimate that beer releases have brought in over $1 million for Decorah. That includes an estimate of $265,000 spent on lodging and $150,000 spent at area restaurants.
Recent beer releases have drawn over 2,000 visitors from across America and the world.
The study took a look only at the impact of events at the Topping Goliath sampling room on College Drive and did not look at the economic impact the brewery's new 100-barrel brewery, taproom, store, restaurant and events center off Highway 9 will have on the local economy.
