NICC has received two separate invitations to apply for national competitive honors. This combination of honors is only extended to three percent of all U.S. community colleges -- 33 colleges out of the approximately 1,100 community colleges in the U.S..

Both the 2019 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence and the 2019 Siemens Technical Scholars Program have invited NICC to apply for their honors.

This is NICC's first invitation to the Siemens Technical Scholars Program, which recognizes community colleges with strong middle-skill STEM programs.  Siemens will notify the winning colleges in early February, with the winning college(s) receiving an award of $50,000.

This is NICC's second invitation to the Aspen Prize Top 150 U.S. Community College. The Aspen Institute recognizes community colleges with exceptional student outcomes in certificate and degree completion, employment and earnings, student learning, and high levels of access and success for minority and low-income students. The top 10 finalists will be announced in May 2018.
