More STEAM day activities at Decorah Middle School

6th graders show off their 3D creations

Decorah Middle Schoolers enjoyed a wide variety of topics on STEAM day.

Students were able to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics on Wednesday in many different formats.

3D doodler pens were available for students to learn about and create 3D objects in one classroom setting. Other students worked on robot programming and coding. Solar print making, video game design, biomimicry, genealogy, resource, conservation, and development were just a few of the many classes offered throughout the day.

Students took turns in the cafeteria walking around, listening to various groups and businesses. Bruening Rock showed a time lapse video of the Fairfield Inn construction, NICC's auto technology program, John Deere program, and carpentry program all gave presentations.

In the afternoon 8th graders took field trips to Gemini, Bruening Rock, Deco, the Jewell farm, Seed Saver's, Pinters, and Wiltgen and Graphics, Inc. in Calmar.

This is the second STEAM day the middle school has organized for the students.
