Decorah Middle School students enjoy STEAM day

Wednesday Decorah Middle Schoolers took part in STEAM day. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Students were able to explore, observe, inquire, and participate with a variety of activities connected to STEAM, with the goal for students to generate an interest and passion with STEAM topics.

Across from the school, the students were shown how technology is used as part of the emergency process. Students took turns inside the ambulance seeing the equipment paramedics use.

Students enjoyed seeing the drone and how thermal imaging is used to find the hot spot in fires and buildings, saving firefighters time and energy.

McCoy, the K9 dog was on hand showing the techniques used when capturing suspects, and the aerial ladder fire truck was on hand for students to check out.
