FFA Soil Judging Team Receives 8th at Districts

Five members of the Decorah FFA competed at the District FFA Soils Evaluation Career Development Event.
 
The team of Peter Gerleman, Anna Hanson, Nick Kuehner, and Hailey Nierling received 8th place. Daniel Schwartzhoff also competed as an individual.
 
The contest consisted of a written test and the judging of four soil pits. Members evaluated the soil based on surface features, the soil profile, land capability and productivity, evaluation of land use and management practices, and suitability of soils for nonagricultural uses.
