Culver's of Decorah will be completely remodeled inside and out

The Decorah Culver's is preparing to undergo an extensive remodeling project. The restaurant will be closing at 1:30 p.m. Sunday and will re-open at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13th.

Culver's of Decorah owner/operator Lisa Roberson explains all Culver's franchises are required to be remodeled every 15 years. The Decorah Culver's is only 11 years old, but the decision to remodel 4 years early was put into motion after the building sustained $16,000 in damages back in March when a driver hit the building with his car.

Roberson says the restaurant will maintain its familiar Midwestern feel, but will undergo significant remodeling both inside and outside to give it a more sophisticated, contemporary and upscale look. Inside, there will be an entirely new color scheme complete with new tile, carpet, tables, chairs and booths. Outside there will be new signage and completely updated colors.

Exterior work has already begun as the existing round blue columns are being transformed into square stone pillars. The updated interior will feature similar stonework with the addition of a stone wall near the entrance to the dining area.

Roberson says the restaurant's interior layout will remain essentially unchanged and the seating capacity will only decrease slightly -- from 99 to 97. The new, updated booths will feature higher backs for more privacy and the dining area will gain two tabletops and recycling bins.

Roberson says plans are underway to hold a grand reopening celebration, including specials, on the franchise's 11th anniversary on October 16th.
