Decorah meteorologist Richard Bernatz says temperatures in Decorah in September were the 7th warmest on record over the past 125 years.
Bernatz says the average temperature of 67.2 degrees was 5.0 degrees above the historical average. The warmest September in Decorah was in 1933, when temperatures averaged 69.3 degrees.
Decorah had 3.33 inches of precipitation during September. That's 0.33 inches less than average, but puts September of 2017 in the middle of the range of 11.66 inches of rain last year and 0.03 inches of rain in 1979.
