Luther College cuts down a row of maple trees

Posted: Tue, Sep 26, 2017 11:27 AM

Luther College officials are explaining why the school has cut down a row of Amur maples along College Drive.

Many of the trees had reached the end of the life cycle and were in the process of dying off.  The wet fall of 2016 and wet spring of 2017 resulted in trees sitting in standing water for an extended period.

Luther officials say work will be done to eliminate the low spots in the area along College Driver, then they will replant native species in this same area.
