Decorah area residents Milton and Orma Quam couldn't be more proud of their grandson Kyle Sloter, who just joined the Minnesota Vikings as backup quarterback.

Sloter is the son of Daryl and Michelle Sloter of Georgia, who met while attending Wartburg College.

According to the Minnesota Viking team website, Kyle said, "It's everybody's dream to make an active roster. It's just a blessing to have the opportunity and a blessing to have a coaching staff that believes in me. I really can't put it into words, it's just a dream come true that I've worked toward since I was just a little kid."

Kyle's grandmother Orma remembers a time when Kyle was 7 years old. "He told his grandfather, 'Some day I will play in a big place with a lot of people.' He's gotten his wish and we couldn't be happier," said Orma.
