Decorah High School Homecoming activities announced

Students at Decorah High School are working on plans and activities for Homecoming 2017 at the end of September.

The student body's choices for king and queen will be revealed at an assembly at 12:30 Friday afternoon in the Decorah High School auditorium.  2014 Decorah High School graduates and current Luther seniors Sean Trewin and Bryce Pierce will be the speakers at the assembly.

Queen candidates from the senior class are: Jenna Galligan, the daughter of Lori and Dave Galligan; Rachel Grimstad, the daughter of Padrin and Ben Grimstad; Katie Nimrod, the daughter of Cristy and Andy Nimrod; Kaitlyn Rooney, the daughter of Annette and David Rooney; and Abby Trewin, the daughter of Karen and Pat Trewin.
           
King candidates from the senior class are: Tye Anderson, the son of Christina and Aaron Pattison and Troy and Leah Anderson; Blake Courtney, the son of Amy and Scott Courtney; Jake Muhlbauer, the son of Dawn and Todd Muhlbauer; Jerod Redenius, the son of Keri Bodensteiner and Chris Redenius; and Lucas Sweet, the son of Trinna and Steve Sweet.

Junior class attendants are Ann Meirick, the daughter of Tracy and Mike Meirick; and Mason Stortz, the son of Amanda and Mitch Stortz.  Sophomore class attendants are Audrey Casterton, the daughter of Patty and Paul Casterton, and Justin Redenius, the son of Keri Bodensteiner and Chris Redenius.  Freshman class attendants are Mya Numedahl, the daughter of Jen Sime and Perry Numedahl, and Brady Hogan, the son of Dana and Ryan Hogan.

A pep assembly in the gymnasium will immediately follow the coronation. The Homecoming Parade will start at 2:30 p.m. at the high school and follow the traditional homecoming parade route through downtown Decorah.
 
The Decorah freshmen football team will face Waverly-Shell Rock at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Decorah Viking varsity football team matched up against Waverly-Shell Rock at 7:30 p.m.  The Homecoming Queen and King, their court and parents will be presented at halftime of the varsity game, along with a presentation by the Decorah High School marching band.
