It won't be all that long before the temperatures turn colder.  As a sign of that, Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation Family Service Offices will start taking applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program on October 2nd.

NEICAC says ONLY households with individuals aged 60 or older or disabled or have a written disconnection notice or are currently disconnected from their heating or electricity provider can apply starting on that date. All other households may apply starting on November 1st. In Winneshiek County, visit NEICAC at 305 Montgomery Street (Smith Building) in Decorah or call  (563) 387-4958.

Households which applied for LIHEAP in the 2016-2017 LIHEAP program year can apply online starting November 1st. Go to http://www.neicac.org/LIHEAP  and look for the "Apply Online" link.

The household income eligibility has been raised from 150% of federal poverty level to 175%.

For more information call (563) 387-4958 or (563) 382-9608.
