Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement to give presentation before DNR's Environmental Protection Commission votes on Master Matrix petition

In January, Winneshiek County supervisors sent a message to 12 Iowa elected officials and to 98 other County Boards calling on the Iowa Legislature to make changes in the Master Matrix used by the DNR to review confined animal operations.

On Monday, Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement will give a presentation to the Iowa DNR's Environmental Protection Commission on a petition that group has filed asking the State to strengthen the Master Matrix.  Winneshiek County supervisors have declined ICCI's request to co-sponsor the petition, but four Iowa counties have signed on.

The DNR has recommended that the Environmental Protection Commission vote to deny the petition.  ICCI says it still plans to give a presentation and provide public comments to the commission.  The group says it will hold a press conference following the meeting Monday morning to announce its next steps.
