Mike e-mails Ms. Answer Person: "Any updates on the property along Highway 52 that was the Jehovah's Witnesses property and now the couple from Decorah bought it and it says "1.2" in large numbers on the marquis out front?"
Ms. Answer Person says, "Doug and Jan Exey of Decorah in April bought the property north of Decorah on Highway 52 because their house in Decorah in the flats has been flooded twice. They wanted to have another option in the event of another flood in Decorah.
Their plans are simply to use it as a get-away/cabin for themselves or to house overnight guests that come to visit. They'll move there if their home suffers flood damage again.
As for the reason for the "1.2" sign? The Exeys were looking for some way to cover the Jehovah's Witness sign. They settled on painting a sign to put up over the original sign. And the reason for "1.2" on the sign? The property the Exeys bought is roughly 1.2 acres!
