South Winneshiek School Board president loses re-election bid

In the only contested school board election in Winneshiek county on Tuesday, South Winneshiek School Board president Arnie Kriener has lost a re-election bid.  Challenger Patricia Schissel beat Kriener, 197 votes to 32, on Tuesday.  Wendy Mihm-Herold and Jenny Johnson did not face opposition and were re-elected.

Decorah school board members Ron Fadness and Cindy Schissel did not face any opposition and were re-elected.  North Winneshiek School District voters elected Jon Wangsness, Scott Fairchild and Myron Rediske to three seats.

NICC Board member Kathy Gunderson, who represents South Winneshiek and Turkey Valley schools districts, among others, on the NICC Board, also won re-election.
