This year's fund drive by the Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation has set a goal of raising $97,000 to pay for a new fetal heart monitoring system that will allow Mayo Clinic Health System and Gundersen Health System doctors fingertip access to a baby's heartbeat and movements and mother's labor.
Family Medicine and Obstetric physicians Dr. Sarah Wymer from Mayo Clinic Health System and Dr. Janet Ryan from Gundersen Health System agree the new fetal heart monitor will improve patient safety by enhancing communication within the care team, allow health care providers to spend more time caring for mothers and newborns at the bedside.
