State Patrol releases details of Tuesday morning accident near Burr Oak

Two people were injured Tuesday morning around 10:15 at a two-vehicle accident on Highway 52 and County A-18.

The Iowa State Patrol says 22-year-old Abbey Monson of Decorah was on County A-18 and pulled out onto Highway 52, striking an SUV being driven by 80-year-old Sharon Borcherding of Decorah.

Both drivers were taken to Winneshiek Medical Center by ambulance, with Borcherding's injuries described as "serious" and Monson's injuries described as "minor."

Both vehicles were destroyed in the accident.  Monson was issued three tickets, including one for "Failure to yield the Right of Way."
