(The following Letter to the Editor has been submitted by Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health Executive Director Marcia Oltrogge):
Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health and the Step Up and Reach Out committee would like to thank the "100 Men Who Care" for the generous donation to the Suicide Awareness Walk on October 14th. Suicide impacts our communities daily. We lose family members, friends and coworkers.
The Suicide Awareness Walk allows participants an opportunity to remember those lost to suicide and offer encouragement for those who are struggling. Proceeds from the walk will provide communities in northeast Iowa resources for family and friends of all ages who have lost someone to suicide. Our goal is to supply books and other materials to funeral homes, churches and libraries.
Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health offers a free support group the first Sunday of every month for families and friends who have lost someone to suicide. The group meets at 7:00 p.m. in Decorah at Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health, 905 Montgomery Street.
The 3rd Annual Step Up and Reach Out walk is at 10:00 a.m. October 14th, 2017 at 905 Montgomery St., Decorah, IA. No preregistration required; free will donations accepted."
