Decorah's newest motel is ready to start accepting customers.
The Fairfield Inn & Suites on Highway 9 on the property of the former Bluffs Inn will hold an invitation-only ribbon cutting at 11:00 Friday morning. The hotel is now accepting reservations starting after Labor Day.
Rebound Hospitality, which owns the Hotel Winneshiek and several other Midwest hotels, says the new 84-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott will open on Friday. All approvals and sign-offs have been officially received from Marriott and the various agencies involved in the hotel's completion. Reservations are now available for stays in September and beyond. Room reservations can be made online at www.marriott.com/lsefd or by phone at (800) 228-2800.
In 2016, Rebound Hospitality entered into a development agreement with the City of Decorah to tear down the Bluffs Inn and replace it a new hotel. "It is very fulfilling to see all of the work and collaboration of many organizations and people coming together to make the opening of a Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites happen in Decorah," said Rebound Hospitality CEO Brett Reese.
The hotel has a unique connection with the city of Decorah. Marriott CEO Arne Sorenson is a graduate of Luther College and now serves on the Board of Regents. His wife Ruth (Christenson) Sorenson is a Decorah native.
The new Fairfield Inn & Suites Decorah has an indoor swimming pool, a fitness room, an outdoor patio off the breakfast room, valet laundry service, complimentary Wi-Fi, fax and copy services and an electric vehicle charging station.
The public will be invited to attend a grand opening at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Decorah in late October. More details will be announced later.
