Beverage Server Training being offered to Winneshiek County retailers

Posted: Sun, Aug 27, 2017 11:15 AM

Helping Services for Youth & Families will host a Beverage Server Training class at Toppling Goliath from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.  The event is free for liquor license holders and their employees in Winneshiek County. It is funded by a Comprehensive Substance Abuse Prevention Grant from the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Beverage servers who attend this training will get a better understanding of Iowa laws and regulations involving the sale of alcohol; ways to identify valid and counterfeit IDs; guidelines to pass alcohol compliance checks; insights on retailers' rights and responsibilities; and strategies for best handling intoxicated patrons.

This is an opportunity for you and your employees to ask any questions you may have about liability that comes with serving alcohol to a minor, or to someone who is intoxicated. This is also the time for retailers to come together to meet and share about your experiences regarding best practices for alcohol sales.

Helping Services for Youth & Families Community Prevention Specialist Jen Kimber will present this training. To reserve a space at the training or to request a free Beverage Server Training, contact Jen at jkimber@helpingservices.org or (563) 387-1720, ext. 104. The certificate presented at the end of the training shows that your establishment promotes safe alcohol service and is taking reasonable efforts to reduce alcohol related incidents.
