Last fall the City of Decorah paid $900,000 for the purchase of an aerial ladder fire truck from the City of Indianola.
One of the ways the city planned to pay for the fire truck--besides through issuing bonds--was to sell the current aerial fire truck, which had been having mechanical problems.
Now it appears the city may have some interested buyers for the used fire truck. City Administrator Chad Bird says ten fire departments have inquired about Decorah's aerial ladder truck, with fire departments in Maine and Michigan the most serious buyers. The Farmington, Michigan fire department representatives are discussing visiting Decorah for a personal inspection of the aerial ladder truck.
The city is asking $90,000 for the used fire truck, however it will have to spend $10,000 to $15,000 on repairs to the truck before it can be sold.
