Molly Leismeister with her kids and Peter Awad with his kids enjoyed the eclipse from a blanket

Organizers of the eclipse viewing on the lawn in front of the Luther College LIbrary were amazed by the number of people who came to Monday afternoon's event.

Even though the weather wasn't good for viewing the eclipse, the people who attended had a very good time at what had the atmosphere of a community picnic.

Leona Hoth and 3rd grader Ellie Adams chose a stone wall instead
A La Crescent couple--Heidi and Tyler--didn't have eclipse glasses, so they got a box from the Luther Bookstore, a foil butter wrapper from the Oneota Co-op and borrwed scissors and tape from Preus LIbrary to make their own viewer.
