More on filtering tap water

Earlier this week, Mr. Answer Person tackled the question, "Do I need to use a water filter in Decorah?"  (http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2017/08/17243.html)

His answer, in brief, was "No, you don't need a water filter in Decorah."  But he added that if a water filter gives you peace of mind, go ahead and do it.

Since posting that column, we've gotten feedback from several readers.  One pointed out that "When pregnant women or children under twelve visit me, I always cook with and offer them filtered water."  Another pointed out that lead can leach from the plumbing in houses and this can be an issue in older houses, so that may be a legitimate reason to use a water filter.

So there are reasons you might want to consider a water filter, but other readers pointed out that water quality from the tap in Decorah can be better than that from water bottles or from reusable containers.

So before you make a choice, study what the research says!
