Bruening Addition property owners will be given two chances to meet with city officials to discuss orders to install sidewalks

Property owners in Decorah's Bruening Addition have received letters from the City of Decorah telling them they must install a new sidewalk in front of their properties by August of next year.  The letters tell property owners the City of Decorah will hire someone to install sidewalks and bill the property owners if they don't have the work done by August.

But Decorah Planning & Zoning Commission members also want to give residents several chances to discuss their particular situations.  As a result, the next two P & Z meetings will include times for Bruening Addition residents to talk with Commission members about sidewalks.

The September 11th Planning & Zoning Commission meeting will include a work session to look at maps of the subdivision and discuss the placement of sidewalks.  The October 9th meeting will include a time for discussion of the details of the sidewalk improvement plan.

Residents who received the letters from the city about installing new sidewalks have the right to appeal the order.  But the next two meetings of the Planning & Zoning Commission are seen as a way to possibly resolve some of the questions without going through the appeal process.
