Progress is being made in hiring a third Decorah Fire Engineer

The Decorah Civil Service Commission will meet twice this week in an effort to come up with a hiring recommendation for the open Fire Engineer position.  Commission members will meet at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday to go into closed session to conduct interview with the finalists for the fire engineer position.  The Commission then will reconvene at 9:00 a.m. Friday to review the applications and to make a recommendation on which applicant should be hired.

The third Fire Engineer position has been vacant since the beginning of July, when Phil Hardy retired.
