Mr. (School) Answer Person has heard from several people inquiring about new elementary school facilities in Decorah.
Mr. (School) Answer Person says that the process probably has some discussions going on that we don't know about, but that are necessary to protect the interests of all parties and will provide the most concrete proposal once it becomes public. Yes, discussions can go on if done by small working groups that do not constitute official public meetings.
Several sources have told decorahnews.com that City of Decorah officials have been expecting to get a follow-up proposal from Decorah School District officials about using some city-owned property for the new elementary school, but have not received anything for many months.
Decorah Community School Board President Ron Fadness told decorahnews.com: "We continue to evaluate options to achieve the goal of a new elementary facility for our youngest students. The process is slow, but we are still working to make it happen, and hope to have a proposal to the community in the near future."
