Ask Mr. Answer Person: "When will a third fire engineer be hired?"

Denise e-mails: "Wondering when the third Engineer/Driver for the Decorah Fire Department will be hired, since the previous Engineer/Driver retired in July."

Mr. Answer Person says: "Applicants for the position took the civil service exam on Saturday, July 15th.  Now city officials have begun checking the references of those who passed the exam.

Last month, when Mr. Answer Person was asked this same question, City Administrator Chad Bird predicted the new Fire Engineer would start work some time in August.  That's still the schedule the city is looking at.

We'll let you know when someone has been hired."
