Registration is open for Decorah Rotary Club's 3rd annual Trout Run Trail ATV tours to be held on Tuesday, August 22nd.
The Decorah Rotary Club sponsors the community event to provide guided motorized tours of the entire Trout Run Trail to the elderly and those with disabilities and physical limitations who are otherwise unable to access the trail.
Tours will depart from the Decorah Trout Hatchery at four times: 8:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. A community lunch will be provided for all participants and their families at the Trout Hatchery pavilion from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Event organizer Jennifer Gipp says the Rotary averages giving rides to about 135 people each year. The ATVs are driven by volunteers from the implement dealerships that donate the vehicles, Rotarians, and the owners of private vehicles.
Implement dealerships donating vehicles this year include Decorah Kawasaki Suzuki Sports Center, Bodensteiner Implement Company-Decorah, Drilling's All Season Sports, John Kerndt, and Paul Nichols. Waukon Power Sports and Les Askelson have also donated vehicles and drivers in past years.
Gipp says, "The Decorah Rotary Club would like to thank the 28-E Committee for allowing us to provide the tours, the Decorah Trout Hatchery for allowing us to use their facilities, the City of Decorah for posting signs and helping with the event, the Chamber of Commerce for allowing us to use signage and publicizing the event, Quillins for providing food for the community lunch, and decorahnews.com for providing advertising. I'd also like to give a special thank you to Mike Huinker, Harlan Satrom, and Francis and Marilyn Peterson for all of their work organizing the event."
Registration is required. Please call Francis or Marilyn Peterson at (563) 382-4504 to make a reservation. A $20 donation per person to the Decorah Rotary Club on the day of the event is appreciated, but not required. Rain date is Tuesday, September 19th at the same times.
