Now that JC Penney's has officially closed its doors in Decorah, many are wondering what's in store for the landmark building. According to local realtor and listing agent Jayme Folkedahl, "A lot of crazy ideas have been thrown at us."
Folkedahl says he has been contacted by several out-of-town investors who are interested in working with someone local who has an idea for the space. "People really care about this community and ensuring the vitality of the downtown area. They want to see the building occupied and Decorah's downtown thriving."
The 117 year old 15,048 square foot commercial building on the corner of West Water Street and Washington Street is listed at $475,000. Folkedahl says plans are underway to hold a community open house once the building is completely cleared out so that people can see the space and the visualize potential business opportunity.
