Wait--was that House Speaker Paul Ryan in Decorah on Saturday?

With all the RAGBRAI bike riders and Nordic Fest participants in Decorah over the weekend, it's understandable that a visit by U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan escaped notice.

Actually, Ryan probably planned it that way--he was visiting Decorah because of his wife, Janna, who brought him along for the 150-year Natvig family reunion held at several locations over the weekend, including a Saturday night dinner at Luther College.  More than 225 relatives attended the reunion.

Sources say there was extra security at the dinner because of Ryan's visit.  He was recognized late in the dinner, giving him a chance to thank those who put together the reunion.
