RAGBRAI 2:00PM UPDATE: Having to leave Decorah by 2:00 p.m.? Apparently, not that big of a deal

By 2:00 p.m. Friday, there was little need for bike parking space

Much was made in the days leading up to RAGBRAI's visit to Decorah of the news that bike riders would be told at 2:00 Friday afternoon that it was time for them to leave Decorah and start riding to Waukon.  But those who were skeptical that the announcement would work hadn't planned on the RAGBRAI riders leaving earlier than 2:00 p.m.

While College Drive and Water Street were both jammed with people Friday morning, by the time 2:00 p.m. Friday rolled around, most RAGBRAI riders had rolled out of town.

There were still some riders taking in the Nordic Fest downtown and a few riders at Toppling Goliath and Pulpit Rock on College Drive, but the throngs of people apparently wanted to get to Waukon--RAGBRAI's overnight stay on Friday--with plenty of daylight remaining.
