(Last week Mr. Answer Person responded to a reader question, "When will the public find broadcasts of Board of Supervisor meetings available to watch?" (http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2017/07/17081.html)
Since then, other readers have weighed in):
(Ann says): "It is always best to be present to get the real feel of what was said at a meeting. But some take place when you cannot attend. I don't follow your explanation of reasons why IT CAN'T BE DONE. Surely, a person would not have to listen/watch the whole meeting once it begins. Couldn't one fast forward to the part he/she is interested in? There must be some way that could be worked out. There is much time available to store recordings on the internet. This would not be an insurmountable amount. It could be stored for a minimum of a month at least. Yes, there might be some "knit-pickers," but that is always the chance you take when running for elected office. The publics' right-to-know, including new technology, should supersede all."
(Jim says): "Yes to broadcasting local board meetings. The broadcast could be keyed to the agenda so the viewer could look at what part they were interested in. This would shorten viewing time."
(Darrell says): "I very definitely feel the supervisors' meetings should be available to anyone interested in watching to see and hear what is said. The working person who is paying taxes for their wages deserves to be able to attend meetings for a few minutes to hear an important subject they are interested in without leaving the job to do so."
