8:00 a.m. Thursday update--
Winds peaking at 70 miles an hour slammed through Winneshiek County around 6:00 Wednesday evening. The fast-moving storm damaged trees and buildings all over the county--especially in the southern half.
There were numerous power lines brought down by the storm, causing the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office at one point to not advise travel in the county.
Ossian and Castalia seemed to have the heaviest damage, although the entire county lost trees.
