Decorah City Council makes quick work of its agenda Wednesday

In other action on Wednesday night, the Decorah City Council:

• Tabled action on revisions to the city's fireworks ordinance, since questions were raised about proposed new language and since fireworks sales in Decorah will end Saturday.
• Discussed, but took no action on, a recommendation by the Planning & Zoning Commission to make major changes to the residential tax abatement program, which will end December 31st unless the city council approves a new program
• Approved a site plan by Norwegian Mutual Insurance for a new office in the Decorah Business Park
• Approved a second reading of increases in water and sewer rates
