Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office reports a motor vehicle accident resulting in a fatality

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office reports three people were involved in a motor vehicle accident at 4:20 p.m. Sunday resulting in one fatality.
 
24-year-old Casey Buxengard of Spring Grove, MN was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on County Road A14 when he lost control of his 2003 Saturn Vue and entered the north ditch. The vehicle rolled several times across a field, coming to rest on its side. Casey Buxengard was ejected from the vehicle along with passenger 25-year-old Justin Vincek of Spring Grove, MN.  Another passenger, 26-year-old Lindsey Buxengard of Spring Grove, MN, was able to crawl out of the vehicle.  
 
Casey Buxengard was airlifted from the scene. Lindsey Buxengard was transported by ambulance to Winneshiek Medical Center. Justin Vincek sustained fatal injuries at the scene.  
 
The Sheriff's Office requested assistance with the investigation from the Iowa State Patrol. This accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.  
 
The Iowa State Patrol and Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office were assisted by Mabel Fire & Rescue, First Responders, Winneshiek County Ambulance, Decorah Fire, MedLink AIR and La Crosse Police Department.  The Iowa State Patrol will be handling the investigation and the accident.
